Do Good and Save Taxes – Donation Summary for Your Tax Return in the TWINT Giving Portal

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about your donation deductions for taxes.

The TWINT Giving Portal makes it especially easy to donate to charitable organisations – while benefiting from tax deductions. You can view and download a summary of all donations made in the portal in your profile.

Can I deduct donations made via the giving portal from my taxes?

Yes! All organisations represented on the TWINT Giving Portal are charitable and tax-exempt. Donations to these organisations can generally be deducted from your taxes.

How much can I deduct and what should I consider?

Most cantons in Switzerland allow individuals to deduct up to 20% of their net income as donations from their taxes, with a minimum amount of CHF 100 per year. However, there are cantonal variations. On ZEWO.ch, you can find a helpful overview for each canton. To ensure you complete your tax return correctly, consult the guidelines from your canton of residence.

What documents do I need for the tax deduction?

To deduct your donations for tax purposes, you generally need a donation receipt, which serves as an official proof for your tax return. The donation summary that you can download in the TWINT Giving Portal helps you track which organisations you have supported via TWINT.

Note: This is merely an overview of your donations within the TWINT Giving Portal and not the donation receipt itself.

The donation receipt is issued by the charitable organisation to which you donated. If you have made multiple donations to different organisations, you may need multiple receipts for your tax deduction. In some cases and cantons, it is possible to deduct donations without a receipt. However, the tax office may require proof at any time. Therefore, keep all donation receipts to be on the safe side.

When and how do I receive my donation receipts?

Donation receipts are usually sent to you directly by the respective charitable organisation between January and March of the following year, either by email or by post. If you do not receive your receipt from an organisation by the end of February, we recommend contacting the organisation directly.

Tip: Download the donation summary from the TWINT Giving Portal to keep track of the donations made in the portal. The summary helps ensure you have received the donation receipts from the organisations for tax purposes.
